Don't Wanna Cry No More

Acid Jazz has joined forces with Argentine producer Kevin Fingier to launch a label dedicated to his productions, all of which breathe new life into 1960s and '70s style funk, soul and boogaloo. This inaugural release is something of a peach. A-side 'Don't Wanna Cry No More' sounds like a Mod scene anthem in waiting - a rasping, horn-heavy slab of soul/rhythm and blues fusion that sounds like it could have been made around 1966. Over on side B the Mod vibes grow even stronger via 'Sunglasses After Dark (Part 1)', a Hammond-heavy instrumental wrapped in addictive bass, jazzy drums, fluid vibraphone solos and pert saxophone stabs.
