Suite For Max Brown
Composer and musician Jeff Parker uses a mix of samples and improvisation to create his music. 'Suite For Max Brown' sees him using influences such as John Coltrane to create a free jazz piece over a sequenced beat. He is joined on the album by pianist and saxophonist Josh Johnson, bass player Paul Bryan, Makaya McCraven, Rob Mazurek, trumpeter Nate Walcott, Jamire Williams and Jay Bellerose on drums and cellist Katinka Klejin. His daughter Ruby even pops upon on the opening track.
