Churn The Butter
'Churn The Butter', a mid-1960s single on the tiny (but back then surprisingly prolific) Chicagoan label M&M, is the undoubted highlight of pianist and bandleader Eddie Buster's all-too-brief recording career. It's something of rhythm & blues gem all told, and well worthy of this timely TRAMP Records reissue. Fronted by vocalist Jr Robinson, the track is rich in heavy organ lines (courtesy of Buster himself), heavy horns and guttural rhythm and blues grooves. Flipside 'Kitchen Cookin' is another riotous and raucous affair, with Buster and his band charging through a low-down rhythm-and-blues-goes-funk instrumental that will have all but the most sluggish punters up and dancing in no time at all.
