Reissue of promo only 7″ 45 from the The JB’s incredible "Damn Right I am Somebody" album from 1973.

A-Side – “Blow Your Head”
One of the greatest funk tracks of all time and extremely rare on 7”. The combination of neck snapping uptempo breakbeat and crazy synth makes this an instantly recognisable classic. It’s also one of the most sampled tracks of all time most notably by Public Enemy, De La Soul, Aaliyah, Bomb The Bass and DJ Zinc.

B-Side – “Same Beat”
Downtempo heavy funk instrumental showcasing the JB’s sound at its best. Syncopated drums, mellow guitar and horns augmented with a rhythmic chant. Tracks like this defined the sound of “solid funk” for all time.

The JB’s was the name of James Brown’s backing band from 1970 through the early 1980s. In addition to backing Brown, the J.B.’s played behind Bobby Byrd, Lyn Collins, and other singers associated with the James Brown Revue, and performed and recorded as a self-contained group. The band released 8 albums in the 1970’s and were led by trombonist Fred Wesley. The JBs were quite simply the best funk band ever to grace this planet. FACT.
