Gabriel and the Angels

The A-side is a rock’n’rolling instrumental from 1960 with a bassline so deep it sounds likes it’s played by a lost race of subterranean frat boys and a guitar riff kidnapped from La Bamba and sent on a lost weekend in Tijuana. It’s all kept company by a Mexicali horn section and, it goes without saying, the boys in the band periodically moved to chant a variation on the track’s title. The B-side is the sound of a 1950s getaway car being driven at high speed towards the border – powered by a saxophone on heat and urgent Hammond organ.
