Noisy, wild and ballsy rock and roll from renowned saxophonist and
band leader Chuck Higgins. Mostly remembered for his Mexican themed
hit ‘Pachuko Hop’, this lesser known side was an attempt by Chuck to
cash in on the craze for all things canine in the wake of Mama
Thornton’s ‘Hound Dog’. And there is definitely an unhinged feel to
proceedings, as if all the members of the band are competing to be the
loudest with the piano player in particular has long since abandoned
any polite notions of subtlety and restraint!
